If you want to swing right, it helps if you have a SwingRite™. That’s
the message USGTF Level I member Kate Whitney of Boxford, Massachusetts,
imparts as a representative of the SwingRite, an official training aid
of the USGTF.
Kate can be seen at most United States Golf Teachers Cup tournaments.
Although she doesn’t play in the Cup tournaments, she is a
good golfer in her own right. She started playing at age three under
the tutelage of her father, USGTF Level III member Charlie Whitney. In
high school, she played on the boys’ golf team at Pingree High School
in South Hamilton, Massachusetts, and was named co-captain her senior
year. She was the first girl in school history to earn a match point.
Kate went on to college at the University of New Hampshire, where
she majored in communications and minored in psychology and sociology,
and graduated magna cum laude. She started work as a sales
representative for a clothing line, but soon realized that golf was where
she wanted to be, and came on board with SwingRite.
She sought USGTF certification to gain credibility when demonstrating
the SwingRite, and so she became a Level I member this past year. Her
goal is to take the SwingRite to the next level and give it even more presence
in the marketplace.
Because the USGTF is part of a worldwide entity, Kate took advantage
of this by traveling to the Beijing, China, golf show in 2009, promoting
the SwingRite product. According to Kate, China was not at all the
way most Americans might depict that country. She found the country to
be progressive, modern and clean, with friendly people and good food.
She felt safety was never an issue on her visit there.
In 2008, she also participated in the European Golf Teachers Cup in
Austria, where she demonstrated the SwingRite. She became a familiar
face to many of our WGTF members living in that part of the world.
A lover of animals, Kate also works in dog rescue. She and her
group take dogs from shelters where unadopted ones are euthanized,
mainly in Virginia, and puts them into foster homes until they are permanently
adopted. Kate herself also provides a foster home to the dogs.
She’s always interested in those who would like to inquire about
the SwingRite or helping with dog rescue, and she can be reached at
kwswingrite@aol.com.
